U3 Radio’s Relaunch Party Was A Major Win For San Antonio’s Music Scene [Event Coverage]

U3 Radio hosted a Relaunch & Cypher Release party at Studio 210 Night Club on Friday, May 10th, and SaTown Hip Hop was in da building! You already know we had to a write-up about this amazing event.

The event was Free to get in, and had at least 10 performances from artists in various genres, including Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, and even Christian Hip Hop. No one who cares the slightest about the music scene in San Antonio should have missed this event.

Hosted by U3 Radio’s CEO, DJ BabyBlueDiamond, with Hypnotik the DJ on the 1’s & 2’s playing the hottest independent music in the city all night, the night was definitely tailored for independent artists seeking to get more exposure. There was a media hour held from 10-11pm, where artists could come network with various media outlets, including bloggers, radio, and more. Shout out to The Urban Suite Radio of KSYM 90.1 FM who had a table full of promotional goodies, Loud City Society, who keeps the city hot with events and networking, and HomeBase Promotions, who reps some of the city’s top talent via performance livestreams and web shows.

The event had a great turnout, with a house filled with artists, media, and fans. Not many artists came early to take advantage of the media networking hour, but they made their entrances throughout the evening and showed up and showed out for the night’s performances, as well as did their most loyal fans.

We were present for all performances of the night, and artists that especially stuck out with great performances were: Slim Biggie Tha Mack, KBS Records artists Tyni Toon, Lady120, and Brandon May, B_rocking10, Kalamari, AMB EZ, Sterling Drakko, and Jea Lorr.

There were a few artists that we felt went above and beyond for their performances. Strong in Faith’s Chase Jackson opened the night with catchy Christian Hip Hop melodies. B.E.L started her set with a beautifully flawless acapella. Husband and wife rap duo, RedLipstick Mouse and Kenneth Durant, brought the heat to the stage as they exchanged solo performances, having the crowd bobbing heads and the ladies twerking.

The energy of the crowd lit up times four with the final performance of the night, by Lil Yodaa and Kevin McGee. They said forget the stage, and took their performance to the next level, literally performing on the stairway. Performing a couple of solo songs, they then topped off the night from the VIP section with their hit single, “Leg Work”, which had complete attention of their fans, as they say along word for word.

Support by other artists was in full effect, as DiversiD and Snoop 300  were spotted in the building showing love to fellow artists.

U3 Radio also took a moment in the night to highlight U3 Radio cypher, playing the entire cypher on the venue’s big screen, and acknowledging the cypher artists on stage. Participating in this year’s cypher were: Kalamari, Jea Lorr, Kenneth Durant, Redlipstick Mouse, and Kevin McGee.
